Adult Carers

What is a carer?

A carer is someone who provides support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems. Carers may even be juggling paid work with their unpaid caring responsibilities at home.

    Our regular events

Each Tuesday we have a support group in our Kilmarnock office which is open for Carers registered with our service. It runs from 11am - 1pm, but feel welcome to come in even if you’re not there for the start. We meet to chat, have some savoury food, cakes, tea and coffee. We also provide arts and crafts, home energy advice, debt management advice, information on welfare changes and an introduction to mindfulness.

Every Wednesday we have a Coffee Morning which is for Carers and also the people they care for. Again, we share food and drinks, however this group is less structured and is more about catching up and having a chat.

In Cumnock we run a Coffee Morning from the Community Routes hub just along from Greggs the bakers on the main street. This is from 10am until 12pm on Wednesdays and carers and the person they care for are welcome to come along.

In Dalmellington we run a Lunch Club every Wednesday 12pm - 2pm. Carers and the person they care for are welcome to attend this. We also run a more laid back coffee morning every Thursday 10am - 12pm. Again, carers and the person they care for are welcome to come along.
