We are still living through a pandemic, and this guidance reflects the need for health and social care partnerships and local authorities to offer flexibility of choice to supported people and unpaid carers over how they manage their SDS budgets. This includes having the choice to employ relatives to provide care and support if no other support is available or appropriate.
